Lectin from B. moojeni (BmL) is protein with one carbohydrate-binding site (galactose). The aim of present work was blockage of the renal effect caused by lectin from Bothropsmoojeni. Isolated kidneys from Wistar rats (n=6), weighing 240 to 280g, were perfused with Krebs-Henseleit solution containing 6% of bovine serum albumin. The parameters studied included perfusion pressure (PP), renal vascular resistance (RVR), glomerular filtration rate (GFR), urinary flow (UF), percent of sodium tubular transport (%TNa+) and percent of potassium tubular transport (%TK+). The lectin from B. moojeni venom (10 µg/mL) increased the PP (ct = 110,1 ± 3,7 mmHg vs BmL = 152,5 ± 2,1 mmHg*), RVR (ct = 5,49 ± 0,54 mmHg/ ml .g-1. min-1 vs BmL = 7,77 ± 0,30 mmHg/ ml.g-1. min-1 *), GFR (ct = 0,718 ± 0,10 ml .g-1. min-1 vs BmL = 1,184 ± 0,09 ml.g-1.min-1*) and UF (ct = 0,140 ± 0,006 ml.g-1. min-1 vs BmL= 0,237 ± 0,013 ml.g-1. min-1*). The indomethacin (10 µg/mL) (inhibitor non selective of ciclooxygenase) reverted the effect caused by lectin from B. moojeni in PP, RVR, RFG e UF. In conclusion, lectin from B. moojeni venom altered all the renal functional parameters evaluated and the indomethacinwas able of inhibed the effects induced by venom in isolated kidney.
